FCC Tells Broadcasters to Submit EAS Form No. 1 by Feb. 28, 2023

On December 15, the FCC’s Public Safety Bureau issued a Public Notice stating that broadcasters must submit their annual EAS Form 1 by February 28, 2023. While there was no national EAS test in 2022, it is anticipated that there will be a test in 2023. However, no date has been set.

The Public Notice Stated:

"By this Public Notice, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) directs parties subject to the Emergency Alert System (EAS) rules to submit their annual Form One filings for calendar year 2022 in the online EAS Test Reporting System (ETRS) by no later than February 28, 2023. The ETRS is an online filing system by which EAS Participants submit information regarding their performance on nationwide tests of the EAS that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Commission conduct regularly to assess the reliability and effectiveness of the nation’s alert and warning infrastructure."
