Last week, NYSBA hit the road for annual awards luncheons in New York City and Long Island. We gave out Excellence in Broadcasting Awards for outstanding work over the past 12 months. This year, we updated the trophy to a more modern, sleek design. Stations also received Serving New York Awards, which is our iconic crystal bowl given to broadcasters and public service groups for their exemplary community work.
We began in the financial district of NYC at Manhatta, a venue sixty stories high with impeccable, sun-drenched views of the Statue of Liberty, New Jersey, and midtown. We were proud to be joined by stations across the city and also students from Hofstra and Fordham who represent the future of our industry.
The following day, we hosted our Long Island luncheon at Blackstone Steakhouse in Melville, NY. We presented awards to stations and public service groups for serving communities throughout Long Island. It was a wonderful afternoon that served as a showcase for the importance of broadcasting to Long Island.
Thank you to everyone who attended our luncheons. We are scheduled to hit the road again next week for the upstate portion of our awards circuit.
We will be posting our Serving New York recipients on our website.
