President Trump Supports Moving AM Bill

Updated: 22 hours ago

During an important interview on the (Salem News) Hugh Hewitt Radio Program, President Trump noted his strong support for the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act (H.R. 979/S315). The relevant portion from the transcript of the interview reads as follows:

Hugh Hewitt: All right.  Now the legislative agenda for this year, I know, I watched your talk to the Republicans at the Trump-Kennedy Center.  And I know you talked about healthcare.  That would be great, but it would be easier to get done if you bundled it with, for example, a DREAMers Act, the AM Radio in every car act.  Both of those have got supermajorities.  Do you think that’s the strategy? Bundle healthcare with very popular laws, get them to the floor and move them?

President Trump: Well, I think healthcare is so big and so important that it probably supersedes some slightly less, you know, very popular thing, but less important. I like the AM in every car.  The AM radio in every car.  I like that.  I’m in favor of it.  It’s interesting.  A lot of people don’t know about that, but it’s actually a very big subject.

Hugh Hewitt: Oh, it’s a huge deal.  It’s a huge deal.

President Trump: We’re going to be doing something on that.  All of the things you mentioned, I like, but I think healthcare is so big and so powerful, it’s going to really have to stand on its own weight.

While the legislation in the House (H.R. 979) has 317 co-sponsors, the bill has not been scheduled for a floor vote yet.  We are hoping that the President will get this bill moving.
