Local Broadcasters a Key to New York’s and United States’ Economy

A new report published by Woods Poole Economics in Washington, DC, noted the importance of local radio and television stations to New York’s economy. The report was commissioned by the NAB.
According to the report:
New York State Total Economic Impact in State: $71.41 billion
Television: $44.97 billion
Radio: $26.44 billion
New York State Total Jobs: 133,477 jobs
Television: 83,933 jobs
Radio: 49,544 jobs
The report included data from each state. At the national level, the total contribution to the economy from local radio and TV broadcasters
Total U.S. Impact: $1.19 trillion in GDP annually
• $748.03 billion from television
• $437.04 billion from radio
Total US jobs impact: 2.46 million jobs on an annual basis
• 1.55 million in television
• 909,071 in radio
