Happy St. Patrick’s Day for those who are Irish or want to be Irish (at least for the day). A tip of the hat to New York City and South Buffalo, which have the best St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in the country.
In Boston, March 17th is a legal holiday, but not because of St. Patrick. Rather, it's “Evacuation Day.” This is the day the British sailed away from Boston after Henry Knox delivered the cannons from New York’s Fort Ticonderoga to George Washington. After placing the cannons on Dorchester Heights in Boston, the British did their “Irish good-by” and sailed away.
