The first step in the confirmation of FCC nominee Olivia Trusty was held last week. She is expected to be confirmed by the full Senate. Once on board, FCC Chairman Brenden Carr will have a solid Republican majority and should be in a position to implement his agenda.
At the hearing, Trusty was questioned extensively about her views on the First Amendment and whether she will be “independent.” From a broadcaster's perspective, she recognized that our competitive landscape has changed, and policies should be enacted to allow stations to compete in the digital age.
