AM Bill (H.R. 979) Passes U.S. House. Thank Your Local Member of Congress

After years of work, the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act (H.R. 979). The legislation instructs the Department of Transportation to require automakers to include an AM receiver in the dashboards of passenger vehicles. The legislation is intended to block the auto industry’s attempts to remove AM receivers from vehicles.

The bill passed on a voice vote with no opposition. The bipartisan legislation had strong support in New York, with 22 members of the New York delegation co-sponsoring the bill and an additional two members voting for the bill as it moved through the Commerce Committee.

NYSBA thanks the members of Congress who supported this important legislation. Also, we are especially grateful to all the broadcasters in New York State who worked tirelessly to help get this bill passed.

Now, it’s on to the Senate. Together we can make this happen!
