About the Role

NYSBA seeks a visionary President/Executive Director to lead the organization from its Albany, NY headquarters. This executive will drive strategic planning and day-to-day operations, ensuring NYSBA remains a catalyst for growth, innovation, and advocacy in broadcasting.

Compensation and Timeline: Anticipated base salary: $200,000 – $250,000, with up to $75,000 performance bonus. Benefits package includes 401K, health insurance & paid vacation

Projected start date: No later than 10/01/2026.

Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of executive leadership in broadcasting or trade association management, with expertise in radio, television, digital, and media sales.

  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop high-performing teams; skilled at assessing talent and optimizing organizational structure.

  • Deep expertise in economic and regulatory trends shaping broadcasting at both state and national levels.

  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with government agencies and navigating complex stakeholder environments.

  • Commitment to travel statewide and attend strategic meetings in Washington, DC.

  • Expertise in broadcast and digital sales, including to government and nonprofit sectors.

  • Strategic financial management and budget presentation skills.

  • Exceptional communication and executive presence; adept at engaging with senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Grant oversight, contract negotiation, and multitasking abilities.

  • Committed to ethical leadership and organizational integrity.

Experience

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Organizational Management: Oversee staff performance, negotiate with vendors, and execute Board directives to advance NYSBA’s strategic goals.

  • Advocacy & Government Relations: Collaborate with an experienced government affairs team to champion member interests before Congress, the FCC, and New York State officials. Lead strategic engagement efforts and represent NYSBA at high-impact meetings.                                                         

  • Financial Stewardship: Direct financial planning, budgeting, and asset management. Identify new business and revenue opportunities to sustain NYSBA’s growth and member value.

  • Member Services & Benefits: Enhance member engagement through innovative training, compliance programs, communications, awards, and events. Optimize outreach via digital platforms and foster professional development.

  • Public Outreach Partnership Program: Strategically manage the program to aggregate and sell advertising time to government and nonprofit entities, leveraging data analytics to demonstrate impact and value.

  • Membership Growth: Strengthen relationships with broadcast stations statewide and drive active participation in NYSBA initiatives.
